An aquarium full of silvery fish forms the curved facade opposite the river La Seine. The aquarium lights up for a few moments at the hour the sun rises in Japan, creating the time link. To the rear, a great, rectilinear inside wall contains the conference rooms, library, theater, while the restaurant is placed upon the roof. To the right of the theater stage, a huge window is cut out in the wall. Closed off by a curtain, it describes a red square in the background that is illuminated during performances. Behind the aquarium, on seven floors, there are exhibition galleries, reception areas and passageways from where on can see the fish moving about against the background of the city. Un aquarium rempli de poissons argentés forme la façade en courbe face à la Seine. Il s'éclaire quelques instants à l'heure où le soleil se lève au Japon, créant le lien de temps. En arrière, un grand mur intérieur rectiligne, contient les salles de conférences, la bibliothèque, le théâtre, tandis que le restaurant est posé sur le toit. Au droit de la scène du théâtre, une grande fenêtre est découpée dans le mur. Fermée par un rideau, elle dessine en arrière-plan, un carré rouge, éclairé lors des représentations. Derrière l'aquarium se tiennent, sur sept étages, galeries d'exposition, espaces de réception, coursives, d'où l'on peut voir évoluer les poissons, sur l'arrière plan de la ville.
