The privileged and exceptional quality of the site and its beauty form the project's basic elements : a vast, magnificent park right on the edge of the lake, a 19th-century luxury hotel, long in ruins, built onto a church classified as a national monument.
Preservation of the vegetation of the park and the exceptional quality of all the rooms are the principal requirements we set ourselves.
All the rooms, then, will have beautiful views of the lake, the town or the park.
The traditionnal layout will be reversed : 7.20 meters of facade (and not of depth), mainly glazed, on the long balconies or terraces.
The bedrooms and suites are set out in a ring of four sides and define an indoor space with a particular atmosphere, interiorized, different from that of the rooms, lit by artificial light and conscientioulsy natural.
This space, an alternative to the traditionnal corridor, for the exclusive use of the clients of the hotel (swimming pools, a squash court, an art gallery), is a prolongation of the space of the bedrooms.
The project revives the strength and clarity of the facade of the old hotel, which will be demolished, and takes its place while retaining its exact implantation and outline, inscribed within the silhouette of the facades on the edge of the lake.
As the volume thus defined does not contain all the bedrooms, the rest of the program is undertaken in the upper reaches of the park in a staggered sequence on the old terraces, by following, here, the logic of the second plane of the facades over the lake.
